Code Breaker
TURING'S ROLE IN WORLD WAR II
In 1939, Turing began working full time at the Government Code and Cipher School at Bletchley Park. Here, he made several advancements in cryptanalysis, including developing the Bombe along with mathematician W.G. Welchman, a machine that could decode the new, more complex German cipher. Turing enjoyed the challenge of developing the Bombe, as well as his time working at Bletchley Park. By the middle of 1941, German communications were successfully being decoded.
