In 1929, Turing sat for the scholarship for King's College at the University of Cambridge, but was not awarded a scholarship. He later took the exam again, and this time won a scholarship, and he was accepted to study mathematics in 1931. When he graduated in 1934, he was elected as a fellow at King's College because of his research in probability theory. He later studied for a Ph.D. in mathematical logic at Princeton University, which he completed in 1938.
